#345 – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

It’s been a little over a month since I last spent time with Harry, Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts. I enjoyed The Chamber of Secrets but thought that it felt like a standalone adventure. I’m hoping that will change with The Prisoner of Azkaban.

I know that the story and characters are all connected but I was under the assumption that the Harry Potter books were more serialized. I thought they were more like Battlestar Galactica than The Next Generation. I’ve been told that the larger narrative begins to pick up in The Prisoner of Azkaban so hopefully there won’t be as many throwaway chapters about dragon eggs and quidditch matches.

I’ll be posting my thoughts and reflections as I read through the book. Below you can find that schedule.

May 18 – Chapters 1-5

May 25 – Chapters 6-9

June 1 – Chapters 10-13

June 8 – Chapters 14-18

June 15 – Chapters 19-22

I’d love for you to read along and share your thoughts as we work through The Prisoner of Azkaban together. Please try to be spoiler-free. No one wants to know that Vader is Luke’s father too early.

If you’ve read all of the Harry Potter books, where does The Prisoner of Azkaban rank?
